Teaches on Omega Institute

William Lee Rand has practised Reiki since 1981 and became a Reiki Master in 1989, receiving master-level training from several teachers in the United States and Japan, among them Bethel Phaigh, one of Hawayo Takata's masters, and Chiyoko Yamaguchi, who had trained with Chujiro Hayashi. Before devoting himself to Reiki full time he worked in astrology, hypnotherapy and past-life regression. In 1989 he put together the Usui/Tibetan approach, in 1995 he and a group of students developed Karuna Reiki, and in 2014 he introduced Holy Fire Reiki, which has since gone through several revisions. He has written Reiki, The Healing Touch and co-written The Spirit of Reiki.

He founded the International Center for Reiki Training, based in Southfield, Michigan, along with the Reiki Membership Association and the Center for Reiki Research, and edits Reiki News Magazine. The centre licenses teachers who run hundreds of classes a year. Rand still teaches Holy Fire Reiki I and II, master and Karuna classes himself, both live online and in person in Michigan, Glastonbury and on Mount Kurama in Japan. He speaks at the centre's annual retreat and at gatherings such as Omega's Reiki conference, and leads a monthly worldwide practice of sending Reiki to his World Peace Crystal Grids.
