Teaches on Insight Timer

Tanis Fishman is a Calgary-based teacher of Yoga Nidra and contemplative practice, and the founder of School of Sankalpa. Before any of this she competed as a skier on the Canadian national team, and she describes carrying big questions about existence through those years without a language for them. Her study of Yoga Nidra started at Bihar Yoga Bharati in India, rooted in the Satyananda line, and grew into more than two decades of guiding practices, writing scripts and training others to lead them.

Over time her focus has widened from Yoga Nidra alone to a broader enquiry into consciousness, the sacred and how we can tell what is true in our own experience. She now teaches through recorded courses on Yoga Nidra, the five koshas and the meaning of Sankalpa, live online group meditations that work with a shared field, and small retreats held with Joanna Haines, the next at 42 Acres in Somerset, England. She has kept a large archive of her earlier Yoga Nidra recordings free to stream, and many of her longer practices are also on Insight Timer.
