Teaches on The Shift Network

Shiloh Sophia McCloud is a painter, teacher and author based in Sonoma, California. Over more than 30 years she has developed Intentional Creativity®, a method that uses intuitive painting, writing, ritual and inquiry as a path of self-discovery, and which is now taught by several hundred certified teachers. She learned from an intergenerational line of women teachers, including her mother Caron McCloud and her mentor Sue Hoya Sellars, which she now calls the Stardust Lineage. She co-founded MUSEA: Center for Intentional Creativity® & Consciousness in Sonoma, which runs a campus, a museum and an online university, and she illustrated Alice Walker's poetry collection Hard Times Require Furious Dancing.

Her teaching treats painting as a contemplative and visionary practice rather than an art lesson, and no experience is needed. Students layer a single canvas over weeks, using intention, movement, the elements and heart-brain coherence practices to listen inwardly and work with symbols that emerge. She has presented at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and teaches through week-long online journeys such as Legend, year-long certification trainings, Red Thread circles and courses on The Shift Network. Her books include The Way of the Red Thread and Tea with the Midnight Muse.
