Robert Peng is a qigong teacher from Hunan in China. From the age of eight he trained privately with a Buddhist monk named Xiao Yao, learning meditation, energy practice and martial arts drawn from Taoist and Buddhist lines. At fifteen he spent a hundred days fasting and meditating in darkness at a remote mountain monastery, a time he describes as the turning point of his life. He went on to study English at university in Changsha while continuing his training in secret, and began teaching in his late twenties, later working with students in China, Australia, Europe and the United States.
His approach, sometimes called Elixir Light Qigong, is built in stages: foundations, flowing movement, still meditation, and then training for teachers and practitioners. He teaches the three dantians as centres of vitality, love and wisdom, together with Xi breathing, standing meditation, self-massage and the Yi Jin Jing sequence, and presents qigong as a path of virtue as well as energy. Students practise with him in live online classes twice a week, through recorded courses, and at workshops at Omega and elsewhere. He wrote The Master Key and, with Rafael Nasser, The Way of Virtue.
