Teaches on The Shift Network

Renee Baribeau, an American shamanic practitioner, author and teacher who goes by The Practical Shaman, has around three decades of practice behind her. She has drawn on Q'ero, Lakota, Mapuche and other Andean teachings, and since 2010 has taught WindWork, her own system, at festivals such as Bhakti Fest and Shakti Fest, at Omega and online. In WindWork the winds serve as a compass for times of change. Students learn to read four primary winds and the gates that lie between them, and to bring ceremony, journeying and simple rituals such as wind knots and prayer flags into everyday life.

Winds of Spirit, her book with Hay House, won a Nautilus Gold award. Since then she has published A Pilgrim's Guide to Walking Wisdom and the Wind Walker's Wisdom Oracle, a deck of 64 cards, and Destiny Books is due to publish The Practical Shaman in 2027. On windwork.org she offers on-demand courses and monthly online journey circles; she also leads walking pilgrimages and teaches two WindWork courses on The Shift Network. With Sandra Ingerman she co-hosts The Shaman's Cave podcast, and she has her own podcast, The Practical Shaman.
