From Chinchero, near Cusco in Peru, Puma Fredy Quispe Singona is an Andean medicine carrier who keeps the Rainbow Lineage traditions of his village's Inca people. When he was six he was struck by lightning, and afterwards his grandfather, the late Don Maximo, took him on for training. He has also studied the huachuma lineages of the Peruvian coast and the ayahuasca lineage of the Shipibo people in the Amazon. Since he was 15 he has spoken at international gatherings, and he has led meetings for spiritual leaders and young Indigenous leaders.
Andean cosmology, ceremony and the mesa, the portable altar of the Andes, are at the centre of his teaching, always grounded in deep respect for Pachamama. In Chinchero he founded the Noqan Kani Global Community Center, a place where locals and visitors can learn Andean ways and nature-based wisdom, and he runs his online mesa programmes from there. He is a co-founder of Pumadventures, which takes groups to Peru's sacred sites, and on The Shift Network he has taught many self-paced courses on Andean shamanic practice, spirit animals and the Chakana, or Andean cross.
