Neil Douglas-Klotz

Teaches on The Shift Network and Insight Timer

Born in America and now living in Scotland, Neil Douglas-Klotz is a scholar, writer, musician and meditation teacher. His work concerns the spirituality of the native Middle East, and he translates from Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic, above all the Aramaic words of Jesus. He has served as co-chair of the American Academy of Religion's Mysticism Group, directs the Edinburgh Institute for Advanced Learning, and in 1982 was a co-founder of the International Network for the Dances of Universal Peace. Under the name Saadi he is also a Sufi teacher in the lineage of Samuel L. Lewis.

Among his books are Revelations of the Aramaic Jesus, Original Meditation, Prayers of the Cosmos, The Hidden Gospel and The Aramaic Jesus Book of Days, as well as Desert Wisdom, The Little Book of Sufi Stories, The Sufi Book of Life, edited collections of Kahlil Gibran, and a novel. He teaches as much through chant, breath, meditation and sacred movement as through texts, leading online events and retreats through the Abwoon Network, and he has recorded four on-demand courses on the Aramaic Jesus for The Shift Network.
