Miles Borrero

Teaches on Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health

Miles Borrero is a New York yoga teacher, kirtan musician and writer who grew up in Colombia and found yoga while training as an actor in the United States. Over roughly twenty-five years he has studied across many yoga lineages as well as Buddhism and tantra, and he looks for the threads that connect them rather than holding to a single method. His classes pair strong, carefully built vinyasa with breathwork, mantra, restorative practice and meditation, and he is known among other teachers for his work on sequencing and on the ethics of touch and hands-on assists. He is queer and trans, and his memoir Beautiful Monster: A Becoming (2023) tells the story of his transition at forty and how yoga carried him through it.

He teaches public classes at St. Marks Yoga in Manhattan, sees private students at his home studio in East Harlem and on Zoom, and leads community kirtan in New York and New England. He is part of the R&R teaching team at Kripalu, where he also offers his own weekend programmes, and he runs continuing-education trainings for yoga teachers. With his partner Sarah Jill he hosts small, queer- and trans-led group retreats, including a week in northern Morocco.
