Michelle Dalbec has practised yoga for over thirty years and taught it for more than twenty-five, almost all of that time within the Kripalu tradition. She trained at Kripalu in stages, completing 200 hours in 2003, 500 in 2010 and the full 1,000-hour certification in 2015, and she now leads teacher trainings and mentors new teachers for the Kripalu School of Yoga in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Her grounding in anatomy comes from Yoga Tune Up, the Roll Model Method, positional therapy and Thai massage, while her philosophical study takes in Sankhya, Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita.
She treats yoga as a relationship with body, breath, mind and heart, and asks students to stay curious about what they actually feel rather than aim for a particular pose. At Kripalu she co-leads a weekend on compassionate dialogue and runs Knit Pray Love, a retreat where knitting and other fibre crafts become a shared meditation. From her own website she offers a library of recorded classes and workshops to rent or stream by subscription, and her YouTube channel holds short movement and breathing practices.
