Michael and Jahna Perricone are a married duo from Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles who lead sound baths built around antique Himalayan singing bowls, many of them several centuries old. Jahna trained as a mindfulness facilitator through UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center and runs the mindfulness programme at the Center for Conscious Creatives; in their sessions she offers spoken guidance and wordless vocal toning. Michael, who spent decades as a sound mixer for film and records, plays the bowls, gongs, guitar and flute and shapes the overall sound.
They call their events Transformances, a mix of guided practice and live performance. Their monthly Sonic Sunday sound baths are also shared online, and they have appeared at LACMA, the Getty and SXSW and led retreats abroad. They wrote and produced The Journey, a 360-degree dome film that uses the same bowls and voice as their live work and has been shown at planetariums and film festivals. Their recordings range from instrumental bowl albums to a set of guided mindfulness practices, and on Insight Timer they share sound meditations and a nine-day course on creativity.
