Marjorie Warkentin

Marjorie Warkentin is living proof that a life’s truest chapter can begin at retirement. A wife, mother, and grandmother from Abbotsford, British Columbia, she spent her working life as a nurse — and as a quiet trailblazer, the main income earner for her family long before that was common. When she left full-time nursing, she didn’t slow down; she re-authored herself entirely, becoming a speaker, author, and life coach devoted to one message: that the simplest path through life is found by reconnecting with your true self — and it all starts by saying yes.

Her book, Saying Yes to Life: Embracing the Magic and Messiness of the Journey (2020) — one of Awaken Village Press’s founding titles — is part memoir, part guidebook: a sensory-rich account of travelling from heavy obligation to a heart-centred life, inviting readers (women especially) to notice where they’ve been ignoring their intuition and pushing through at all costs, and to trust, surrender, and listen to their inner knowing instead. Readers call it an antidote to the burnout and overwhelm so many women carry — the Wise Woman’s answer to a culture of pushing through.
