Lihi Benisty is a Los Angeles teacher of breathwork, movement and somatic self-inquiry, and a first-generation American. Her movement classes draw on vinyasa, hatha, yin and restorative yoga and on Pilates, with ideas borrowed from capoeira, the Ido Portal method and the Gaga dance language. Her breathwork ranges from slow, settling practices to longer active journeys, and she has taught both in studios and on the Open app. She also leads sound meditations using gongs, chimes, bowls, kalimba and her own voice.
In private self-inquiry sessions she uses dialogue and attention to the body, drawing on parts work and Gestalt, so that clients can recognise their own patterns, and she mentors new and established teachers online. Writing runs alongside the practice: in 2025 she published her first poetry collection, The Self, Reframed: In the Realm of Raw, and she writes a Substack newsletter that treats self-inquiry as a kind of gardening. At Esalen she has led weekend and week-long programmes combining breathwork, movement, writing and sound, and she records personalised guided meditations for individual clients.
