Teaches on Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health

Lama Migmar Tseten, also known as Khen Rinpoche, is a teacher in the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. His life took him from Tibet to India, where he combined a monastic training with modern study and graduated from the Sanskrit university at Varanasi. He went on to lead the Sakya Center in Rajpur and the Sakya monastery at Puruwalla, and his own root teacher was Chogye Trichen Rinpoche. He began teaching in 1989, a year later opened his Cambridge, Massachusetts centre, the Sakya Institute for Buddhist Studies, and has been a Buddhist chaplain at Harvard University since 1997.

His teaching runs from the Four Noble Truths and the Heart Sutra to tantric practice centred on Tara, Vajrayogini and Chakrasamvara, and to the mystical songs of the Indian master Virupa. He has overseen the editing of dozens of rare Sakya texts and has written several books, among them Awakening to the Noble Truth, The Wisdom Gone Beyond, Reality and Wisdom and The Play of Mahamudra. Through Mangalam Studio, founded in 2013, he works to preserve sacred art such as thangka paintings, and since 2017 his online course has offered structured study of the core texts, with recorded talks, reading and quizzes. He also teaches at Kripalu, at the Sivananda ashram in the Bahamas and at the Art of Living Retreat Center.
