Kate James is an Australian mindfulness teacher, coach and author who has worked with clients since 2002, mostly women who describe themselves as quiet, sensitive or introverted and who are facing a change in work or life. She trained as a coach with the International Coach Academy and was one of the early Australian coaches to hold PCC status with the International Coach Federation. She was also among the first teachers to bring everyday meditation to Melbourne audiences, and her approach draws on Mindful Self-Compassion, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the research of positive psychology. She is a trained facilitator of the Birren method of guided autobiography.
She coaches clients online and face to face on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, offers half-day one-to-one intensives, runs a six-week small-group confidence course, and leads a yearly five-night mindfulness and yoga retreat for women at Sangsurya near Byron Bay. Of her six books, the best known are Quietly Confident, written for introverts, Create Calm, Be Mindful and Simplify Your Life, and a guide to purpose titled Change Your Thinking to Change Your Life. On Insight Timer she shares guided meditations, body scans and yoga nidra, and each Monday morning, Melbourne time, she hosts a free live talk and meditation on finding inner peace.
