Teaches on Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health

Joy Adler is an energy healer and teacher based near Albany, New York, who opened her private practice in 1993. She trained at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, the school that grew out of Barbara Brennan's book Hands of Light, and now serves there as a dean, guiding first-year students in New York and the advanced studies programme in Florida. Her wider training takes in pastoral counselling, hypnotherapy, yoga, Ayurvedic nutrition and massage, as well as several years learning shamanic practice from Indigenous elders.

Music sits at the centre of her work. A singer and recording artist, she leads a group of musicians called The Souls of Evolution, uses voice and instruments in her sessions and has released a number of albums made for healing and reflection. Her YouTube channel holds a set of guided meditations for each of the chakras, many with harp or live sound behind them, and she co-hosts a podcast of conversations with healers and musicians. For more than twenty years she has led the introductory Hands of Light weekend, which she now also brings to Kripalu along with a programme drawn from Brennan's second book, Light Emerging.
