Jillian Pransky is an American yoga and mindfulness teacher who has been leading classes, trainings and retreats for around thirty years. She trained in the ISHTA lineage with Alan Finger in the mid-1990s, later took Erich Schiffmann as her main yoga influence, and has followed the teachings of Pema Chödrön since 1998, alongside study with figures such as Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach and Sharon Salzberg. A certified yoga therapist, she is the author of Deep Listening and The Power of the Pause.
Slowing down sits at the heart of her work. She is known for restorative yoga, unhurried slow-flow sequences and metta meditation, and for a six-step, ninety-second practice she calls LAR-LAR (land, arrive, relax, listen, attend, respond) for meeting hard moments with more presence and kindness. Each season she leads retreats at Kripalu, Omega Institute, Feathered Pipe Ranch in Montana and Blue Spirit in Costa Rica, often with the composer Garth Stevenson playing live. Online, she runs a membership studio with new weekly classes and a recorded library, and hosts free Friday meditations that anyone can join.
