Teaches on Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health

Jess Magic is a singer, storyteller and ceremonial guide whose work joins music with embodiment and ritual. For around fifteen years she has toured festivals, retreats and leadership gatherings, singing gospel-flavoured songs, improvising with audiences and acting as master of ceremonies at events such as Bali Spirit Festival. She created the Soul Salon, an evening in which a hand-picked group of musicians and speakers weave stories, original songs and improvisation together with the audience, and took it online in 2020 as a series of Virtual Soul Salons. Her Gospel Brunch gatherings invite people of any faith or none to sing together without dogma.

Under the name MWALI she has set up a non-denominational spiritual foundation with a temple space in Austin, Texas, built around monthly music services, ritual and community. She also works one to one as a coach for leaders and entrepreneurs, using voice, presence and body awareness to help them live from the heart, and has run voice and embodiment programmes for women. In podcast conversations she talks about treating everyday life as a ceremony and about freeing the voice. At Kripalu she co-leads, with Eset Rose, a weekend on creativity, vitality and sacred aliveness.
