Jean Else

Jean Else is a British mediumship teacher and programme director who spent her working life as a schoolteacher and school administrator before turning to spiritual education. She learned mediumship at first hand from her wife of 24 years, the UK medium Mavis Pittilla, and the two of them built courses, workshops and mentorship programmes together, travelling widely to teach. Jean brought the structure of a professional educator to the work, helping students with the craft of mediumship, its ethics, and public speaking and presentation.

Since Mavis died in 2022, Jean has carried her teaching forward. She directs the Mavis Pittilla-Authorised Teacher Training Programme, runs the Mavis Pittilla Legacy Program with teachers trained by the couple, and has curated an archive of Mavis's recorded lectures and demonstrations. With Suzanne Giesemann she leads The Evidential Mediumship Academy on The Shift Network, a year-long training that combines theory classes, small mentorship circles and supervised practice. Her approach treats mediumship as a discipline that needs time, study and accountability, in the spirit of Mavis's view that a medium should be trained as fully as anyone else who works with people.
