Irma StarSpirit Turtle Woman

A medicine woman and teacher in New York City, Irma StarSpirit Turtle Woman works in the ways of her Maya and Taíno ancestors and of the curanderas in her own family. She has followed this path for close to three decades and has trained to master level in Karuna Reiki, in crystal healing, which she also teaches, and in the Toltec dreamweaving tradition; she has spent many years in a MedicineWay apprenticeship and belongs to the Society for Shamanic Practice.

With Reiki master Judith Grasshopper she runs Shamanic Fire Reiki in Queens, which holds workshops, ceremonies, circles and certification programmes for its community. Irma's own classes cover the Vogel crystal wand, shamanic journeying with power animals, drum work, dreamtime and the elemental forces she calls the poderíos, usually woven together with prayer, song and traditional ceremony. Most of her sessions and classes now happen online, with occasional in-person intensives in the New York area, and she also teaches in the Kripalu Online Studio.
