Hannah Muse teaches yoga, meditation and the mythology of the yoga tradition from Santa Cruz, California. Her root teacher was Baba Hari Dass, and her meditation practice draws on Theravada Buddhism, with Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach and Tuere Sala among the teachers she names as formative. She came to teaching from work in social and environmental campaigning, and that thread of service still runs through what she does: she leads the Yoga for All Movement, which brings yoga and mindfulness to people in prison and to communities the wellness world tends to overlook.
She directs the Awake Heart 200- and 300-hour yoga and mindfulness teacher trainings, held partly at Mount Madonna Center, and has trained several hundred teachers. Online she guides Shelter in the Heart, a meditation group that meets twice a week with a dharma talk and time for journaling and sharing, and The Ritual, a long class that mixes breath, movement, music and storytelling. She also teaches in person at Pleasure Point Yoga in Santa Cruz. For over a decade she has led pilgrimages to temples in southern India, alongside service trips to Guatemala and retreats at Esalen, where she uses myths and archetypes as a way into practice. She has appeared at Wanderlust, Bhakti Fest and Electric Forest.
