Grandmother Flordemayo

Teaches on The Shift Network

Grandmother Flordemayo is a Mayan elder and curandera espiritu, a healer of divine spirit. Born in the highlands of Nicaragua, the youngest of fifteen children, she was raised by her mother, a midwife, in a family of traditional healers. For decades she has travelled to offer ceremony and prayer and to speak on subjects from herbal tradition to the spiritual care of seeds. She was a founding member of the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers and of several other Indigenous elder and knowledge councils.

In 2012 she founded The Path, a non-profit in Estancia, New Mexico, whose Seed Temple conserves heirloom and heritage seeds and prepares prayer-blessed seed bundles for future generations. Her teaching centres on prayer as daily practice, Mayan cosmology and the sacred calendar, ancestral connection, and ceremonies of fire, water, earth and wind drawn from the curanderismo tradition. She shares this through ceremonies and gatherings, short prayers and talks on her YouTube channel, and a series of self-paced courses with The Shift Network.
