Teaches on Insight Meditation Society

Éowyn Ahlstrom is an insight meditation teacher who lives and works in Barre, Massachusetts, the small town that is home to the Insight Meditation Society. She came to meditation through yoga during a decade of travel after university, then found her way back to the vipassana and metta practice being taught on her doorstep. Over some twenty years she sat many retreats at IMS and the Forest Refuge, worked there as staff and volunteer, and was later authorised to teach by the IMS guiding teachers following a period of mentoring with Greg Scharf, Kamala Masters and Bhikkhu Analayo.

Alongside the dharma she has a long background in mindfulness-based programmes, having trained MBSR teachers at Brown University and taught for the mindfulness centres at UMass Medical School and Cambridge Health Alliance. Her own practice, Middle Path Healing Arts, brings together sitting meditation, mindful movement drawn from yoga and qigong, and down-to-earth reflection on early Buddhist teachings. She leads a weekly insight group on Zoom and in Barre, a monthly online membership of recorded practices, individual guidance and silent retreats. She is also a poet, and her collection Mindscapes: Practice Poems gathers pieces written on and around retreat.
