Teaches on Insight Meditation Society

Devon & nico Hase are a married couple who teach Insight Meditation together. Devon first sat as a college student in 2000 and has since spent more than six years on silent retreat across the Insight and Vajrayana traditions, with Joseph Goldstein, Tara Brach and Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche among her main teachers; the two of them completed a traditional three-year Tibetan retreat side by side. Devon taught in high school and college classrooms for a decade before turning to the dharma full time, trained through Spirit Rock's Community Dharma Leaders programme and the IMS teacher training, and now helps run the Community Dharma Leaders programme. nico teaches and writes alongside her.

Devon serves on retreat teams at IMS, the Forest Refuge, Spirit Rock and other centres, offering lovingkindness, metta jhāna and body-based insight practice. As a couple they guide Refuge of Belonging, an online sangha of over two hundred members with monthly half-day retreats on the Eightfold Path, multi-week classes, free talks and a yearly residential retreat at Crestone Mountain Zen Center in Colorado, and they offer one-to-one dharma mentoring. Their teaching stays close to ordinary life: emotions, conflict and long-term relationships. They are the authors of How Not to Be a Hot Mess (2020) and This Messy, Gorgeous Love (2026), a Buddhist guide to partnership.
