Desirée Dunbar

Desirée Dunbar is a dancer, choreographer and creative mentor based in Vancouver, Canada, and the founder of The Secret Garden Society, an online community for women. She holds an MFA in dance, performed and made contemporary work for many years and later taught movement at university level. Over time her teaching moved from the stage towards women going through big changes in life, such as a shift in career, family or sense of self, who feel that something new is asking to come through.

Her approach brings together dance and embodied movement, ritual, intuition, guided meditation and down-to-earth mentoring. She draws on earth-based ceremony, the cycles of the moon and feminine myth, including a long interest in Mary Magdalene, and treats creativity as a way of listening to oneself rather than a luxury. Her main programme, Charmed, is a year-long group journey of live movement rituals, reflective practices and workbooks, and she also runs CRAFT, a small six-month mastermind for women bringing a project or business into being.
