Dana Ullman
Hundreds of thousands of followers: the superstars of the future.Dana Ullman took his undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley in 1975 and a Master's in Public Health there afterwards, adding certification in classical homeopathy and a doctoral degree in homeopathy from the British Institute of Homeopathy. He has stayed in Berkeley ever since, where Homeopathic Educational Services — the company he founded and chairs — has operated out of a Camelia Street address for decades.
If the other figures in this cohort are teachers of practitioners, Ullman is the field's public advocate and archivist. He has written ten books, several of which — Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicines, co-written with Stephen Cummings MD, and Homeopathic Medicine for Children and Infants — have been in print for more than thirty years and are the books most often handed to an English-speaking newcomer. The Homeopathic Revolution takes a different angle: it assembles the historical record of well-known figures who used homeopathy, from Darwin to Gandhi, and is the book he is best known for outside the field.
He chaired the National Center for Homeopathy's annual conference from 1986, wrote a long-running column for HuffPost, and now publishes on Substack. His current major project is Evidence Based Homeopathic Family Medicine, a 750-page ebook that indexes more than 500 clinical studies published in peer-reviewed journals, sold as a rolling subscription so it can be updated. He has also received a lifetime achievement award from within the profession. Of the five healers here, he is the one whose work is most concerned with argument, evidence and the historical record rather than with clinical method.
