Catherine Liggett is a shadow work guide, writer and podcaster who lives in Shoreline, just north of Seattle. Her central theme is learning to stay with strong feelings in the body instead of thinking about them or pushing them away. Before this work she taught German at Oregon State University, and she came to it through years of her own inner work, dance and yoga teaching, and Holy Fire Reiki training. She credits a Tara Brach retreat in her teens, the West African teachers Malidoma and Sobonfu Somé, and mentors in ancestral and spiritual practice as lasting influences, and she sees emotional life as tied to the body, family lines, community and the wider world.
At the heart of her teaching is a four-step practice she calls F.A.C.E., used to meet difficult inner parts with warmth, and much of her work touches on the inner child, the inner mother and old patterns in relationships. She no longer sees private clients, and now teaches through a pay-what-you-can audio course, a free guided practice and short guidebook, many years of free talks on YouTube, and The Tender Revolution podcast. Her Insight Timer page carries guided shadow work, recorded live sessions and courses. North Atlantic Books plans to publish her book on emotion, All the Feels, in 2028.
