Carole Westerman is a yoga and meditation teacher based in Omaha, Nebraska, whose classes lean towards the slow end of practice: yin, restorative yoga, yoga nidra and quiet breathing. She came to yoga through Hatha and Kundalini, spent years in the Iyengar style and later taught vinyasa, before an injury turned her towards stillness and the softer forms she is now known for. She studied psychology to master's level, has travelled to India four times to study yoga, meditation and philosophy, and is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level. Among the teachers she credits are Paul Grilley, Bernie Clark, Tara Brach and Judith Lasater.
Her sessions combine gentle postures with meditation, breath practice, journaling and, at times, aromatherapy, with the aim of helping people slow down and rest while awake. Alongside group classes she trains yoga teachers, works as a leadership and wellbeing coach at an integrative clinic in Omaha, and leads retreats abroad, with past groups in India, Bali, Greece and Peru. Some of her classes appear on Yoga International and Glo, and longer yin and restorative sessions are free on her YouTube channel.
