Teaches on Insight Timer

Andy Hobson is a meditation teacher and composer based in Newbury, West Berkshire. In his twenties he drummed in a band that signed to a major label in 2003 and toured widely, and when that ended a few years later he turned to Buddhist teachings, books and daily sitting practice. He began leading small meditation groups in London in 2010, writing his own music to sit beneath the recordings he made for students. His training includes the first level of mindfulness teacher training at Bangor University, counselling skills, arts-based work with children, the Mindfulness in Schools primary programme and a sound practitioner course with Tibetan and crystal bowls. For several years he ran a children's support service at a London primary school.

His teaching is warm, informal and often funny, and does not follow one tradition. He blends guided practice with storytelling and original soundtracks, and his audio courses include a ten-day seasonal journey set in an imagined land, a thirty-day beginners' course and meditations for children. His book Doorways To Being mixes stories, practices and reflections. Around Newbury he leads sound baths with bowls, chimes, flute and guitar, and works with local schools, while one-to-one mentoring runs over Zoom. He also teaches on The Mindfulness App and releases music as Coraland.
