Amy Elizabeth Bost is a Christian chaplain, preacher and writer who for most of her career was known as Amy Bost Henegar. Her first post was as a chaplain in a Los Angeles hospital; she later served for many years as a minister at a Church of Christ congregation in Manhattan. She earned a Doctor of Ministry at New York Theological Seminary, and in 2019 she gave the featured lecture of Pepperdine University's William M. Green lecture series. The gospel stories of Jesus, and especially the way he treated women and people pushed to the edges, sit at the centre of her preaching and writing.
Today she offers pastoral conversations about the life of the soul, coaching for people trying to discern a sense of calling during a change of season, small cohorts for those rebuilding their faith after old certainties have fallen away, and a preaching workshop for women. She also designs weddings, baby blessings, memorials and other rites for families of any faith or none, on a pay-what-you-can basis. During 2020 she recorded a daily morning prayer in modern, inclusive language, following a simple liturgical pattern with a changing scripture reading; those recordings remain free to hear on Insight Timer and as a podcast.
