Teaches on Esalen Institute

Alejandro Chaoul, known to students as Ale, teaches Tibetan yoga and meditation from the Bön tradition of Tibet. His path began in 1989 with nine months in India and Nepal, where he met his first teacher, Ngakpa Yeshe Dorje Rinpoche, in Dharamsala. He went on to train for more than three decades with senior Bön masters, among them Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche and Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, and earned an MA at the University of Virginia and a doctorate at Rice University on trul khor, the 'magical movements' that join breath, posture and awareness. He is a senior teacher with Ligmincha International and The 3 Doors.

For many years he brought these practices into hospitals, universities and community settings, and in 2018 he set up the Jung Center's Mind Body Spirit Institute in Houston, where he remains founding director. He now gathers his teaching under the name Tibetan Yoga Wellbeing, offering courses, trainings and journeys to sacred sites in Nepal and elsewhere, along with free monthly meditations in Spanish. His books include a study of Bön chöd practice and a manual of the magical movements published by Wisdom, and he teaches at retreat centres such as Esalen, Omega and Menla, in English and Spanish, across the Americas and Europe.
